The HSRP is 'NGO of Choice' at the Queen's Birthday Party

Every year, the British High Commission celebrates the Queen’s Birthday party at the High Commissioner’s residence in Pretoria. This year, on May 7, the outgoing High Commissioner, Paul Boateng and his wife, Janet, hosted a cocktail party which, he said, was not only in celebration of Her Majesty’s birthday but also to celebrate the forthcoming inauguration of  South African President Elect, Jacob Zuma and the continuing partnership between South Africa and Britain.

Every year, as part of the event, a charity or NGO is chosen to represent themselves and be a part of the celebrations. This year Archbishop Ndungane was invited to introduce the Historic Schools Restoration Project to the other guests – who included prominent business leaders, government representatives, ambassadors and other members of the foreign affairs community. The HSRP was also given space for a small display, including a screen continually showing the HSRP promotional DVD and some promotional leaflets that were handed out to all who were interested.

The Archbishop gave a short address, introducing the project and appealing for support, advocacy and financial assistance. Many people present seemed keen to assist and the HSRP will be following up with all who attended.
